5×15 storage unit: prices, size & what fits

The middle price for a 5x15 storage unit is $70 per month and the average is $77, based on 1,928 units indexed in the United States. Published rates run from $16 to $384 depending on location, climate control, and market demand. The median is the better guide: a small number of city-centre units sit far above it and pull the average up.

A 5x15 unit (75 sq ft) typically holds contents of a large studio or 1-bedroom, sofa and armchairs loaded end to end, mattress set and bed frame, plus boxes and smaller items. It is roughly sized for a studio / 1-bedroom.

Usually. A 5x15 is under the 10x10 most movers name by reflex, but it takes a one-bedroom's belongings when they are packed properly and nothing needs the full width. Go a size up if you have a sofa bed, a large appliance, or furniture that cannot be taken apart.

Climate-controlled units cost roughly 25–50% more than standard units but protect wood furniture, electronics, photos, and documents from humidity damage. They are recommended for anything temperature-sensitive or stored longer than 3 months in humid climates.

Storage pricing is driven by local land cost, facility demand, amenities (climate control, 24-hour access, drive-up), and unit availability. The averages on this page are computed directly from 1,928 real 5x15 units listed across our facility index.
