Privacy Policy

StorageAtlas is run by Shoreward LLC, a company registered in New Jersey. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Shoreward LLC, trading as StorageAtlas.
What you give us
When you ask us about a facility we collect your name, email address and phone number, the unit size you want, when you need it, where you are looking, whether you would rather be called or emailed, whether you ticked the box agreeing to texts, and anything you type into the optional box about what you are storing. If you report a problem with a listing we collect the name and email you put on that form.
Your enquiry also carries a few things you did not type: which page you were on when you sent it, the published rate we were showing for that unit and the date we read it, any facilities you had saved on the site beforehand, the wording of the consent you agreed to, and an identifier for that one submission so we can trace it if something goes wrong.
Your name, email, phone number and whether you asked to be called or emailed are saved in your own browser so the next enquiry is shorter. You can clear them by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
If you allow your browser to share your location, the coordinates go to OpenStreetMap to turn them into a city name. We do not keep the coordinates. The city name is kept with your enquiry and is passed on to a facility with the rest of your details, so they know roughly where you are looking.
Who sees it
Nothing goes to a storage facility until we have spoken to you. We call you first to check what you actually need, and on that call we agree how many facilities we may approach on your behalf, up to three. That number is the limit, and we ring those facilities before sending anything. If you say no, or we never reach you, your details stay with us.
What a facility receives is your name, email address, phone number, the unit size and move-in date you gave, anything you told us about what you are storing and how long for, how you would rather be contacted, when you are easiest to reach, and the date you enquired. They are also told how many facilities are being approached, so nobody is sold an exclusive introduction we did not give them.
We do not sell the details you give us in an enquiry, and we do not pass them to advertisers or data brokers. The ads on this site work separately, as described under Advertising below.
Companies that help us run this
Your enquiry passes through a few services we pay to do a job. Brevo sends the email that confirms we have it and holds your contact record so we can find you later. Telnyx carries our calls and texts and tells us whether your number is a mobile or a landline, which decides how we ring you, and we check that your email domain can receive mail at all so our reply does not bounce. Google Sheets holds the call sheet our caller works from. Discord carries an internal alert to our own team channel when an enquiry arrives. None of these is an advertiser, and none of them is given your details to use for their own purposes.
Chat
Atlas, the chat assistant on this site, is an AI. Everything you type into it is saved, together with the facilities it showed you, so our team can read the conversation and help you. The messages are sent to Anthropic, the company whose Claude model writes Atlas's replies, so that it can write them. Once you have given your name, the town where you need storage, and an email or a phone number, the chat sends your request to our team, as the note at the top of the chat says. If you give an email or a phone number and leave before the rest, it is sent a few minutes later with what you gave. Nothing you say in the chat goes to a facility until you have said yes, and you can ask us to delete a chat at any time.
If you let this site use your location, for example with the Share my location button in the chat, your browser's coordinates go with your chat messages so Atlas can search near you. We keep the name of the nearest town, not the coordinates.
Calls
Calls with StorageAtlas are recorded so we can check what was agreed and improve how we do them. You are told at the start of the call. Ask us and we will delete your recording.
Text messages
We text you only if you ticked the box on our quote form agreeing to it. The texts are about the request you sent us: that we have it, arranging a time to call, and which facilities have space for you. How many you get depends on your request. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any text and we stop texting you, and we also stop calling you. Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected]. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We do not share or sell your mobile number, or your agreement to receive texts, to anyone for their own marketing. Your agreement to receive texts and the record of when you gave it are never shared with any third party. The only time your phone number leaves us is the facility introduction described above, which happens after you agree to it on a call and is so the facility can contact you about the unit.
Payment
Renters never pay us. A facility pays us a referral fee only if you actually rent with them, which is why we keep a record of the introduction. You are never charged, and we never ask you for card details.
We also hold referral arrangements with a few operators, including DYMON, Apple Self Storage and Prime Storage. Where one of them pays us for a renter who rents, we say so on the page rather than only here: facilities we work with directly are marked Trusted and shown first.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics counts visits and which pages get used. Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used and can replay a visit as mouse movement, scrolling and clicks. Both are made by other companies and both set cookies.
We also run the Meta Pixel, made by Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta which pages of this site were visited and when a quote request was sent, so we can see which of our Facebook and Instagram ads bring people here and show them to people likely to find them useful. It sets cookies too.
An ad blocker or privacy extension stops all three of them, and the ads described below, and the site works normally without them.
When you arrive from an ad or from another website, this site keeps a note of it in a cookie of our own: which ad or website sent you (including the code an ad adds to the link and the campaign name), and the page you landed on, for your first such visit and your latest one. The cookie stays on your device for 90 days. If you send us a quote request or give your details in the chat, the note is saved with your request, so we can see which of our ads bring renters to us. Only our own team sees it, and it is never passed to a storage facility.
Some outbound links are affiliate links, including the moving supplies on Amazon and the rental listings on RentingHive. Each carries a code that tells the other site the visit came from us, and we count the click in Google Analytics. If you go on to buy or rent, we may be paid a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, we never see your order, and nothing about which links you follow is passed to a storage facility. This is set out in full on our affiliate disclosure page.
Advertising
Some pages on this site show ads from Google AdSense. Other companies, including Google, use cookies to show you ads based on your earlier visits to this site and to other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners show you those ads.
You can turn off personalised ads in Google’s Ads Settings, and turn off other companies’ cookies for personalised ads at aboutads.info. You will still see ads, but they will not be based on your browsing.
There are no ads on our quote form, your saved list, the comparison page, the contact page or our pages for Quebec. We do not give Google anything you type into an enquiry.
Facility information
Everything shown about a storage facility comes from public sources: the business’s own website and public business directories. We do not access private or restricted data. How we read it is described on our methodology page.
Asking us to delete your details
Email [email protected] and we will delete your enquiry, your contact record and any recording of a call with you. We do this by hand, so allow a few working days, and we will write back to confirm it is done.
Two things we cannot delete for you. Details already sent to a facility you agreed to are held by that facility under their own policy, and you would need to ask them directly. And where a call was placed through our telephony provider rather than recorded by us, we have to ask them to delete their copy, which we will do on your behalf.
